What is Batana Oil
Extracted from the nut of the American palm tree, Elaeis oleifera, Batana oil, also known as Ojon oil, is a traditional beauty ingredient that has been utilized by indigenous people in Central and South America for centuries. The extraction process of this natural oil is a labor-intensive one. After harvesting the nuts from the palm tree, they are left to dry in the sun for several weeks. The dried nuts are then cracked open, and their kernels are removed, roasted, ground, and pressed to extract the oil.
Batana oil boasts a deep golden color and a nutty fragrance. Its rich composition includes vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fatty acids, such as oleic acid, palmitic acid, and linoleic acid, that contribute to its effectiveness as a moisturizer for the hair, skin, and nails. Additionally, it contains tocopherols, a type of vitamin E, that exhibit antioxidant properties, guarding the skin against damage caused by free radicals.
